Unions are highly regulated by legislation and rules. Governance is the system of laws, rules, practices & processes by which the union itself is directed and controlled. It’s about working in the best interest of our members and being accountable to our members for decisions about the internal operation of the union. The role of governance is to ensure the union complies with the law & has policies and practices in place to guarantee good corporate governance.
Annette Moran
Annette Moran is the National Governance and Compliance Officer and the first national employee of the union.
A Complex Governing Structure…
The Union has a complex governing structure, governed by 30 separate committees of management constituted by 526 office holders. The union has a responsibility to ensure that every office holder is made aware of their legal duties and obligations as an office holder.
